Anyone ever try just painting their rear spoiler with fiberglass resin?
Would it melt it?

Seems like it might be a cool mod:
Preserve it, make it last forever..
Be able to fix it forever..
Could get rid of those little imperfections like the seams where the wing and side trims don’t match..
Get rid of all the little porous looking holes and make it smooth..
Could paint it black, or body color, or whatever you want..
Maybe inlay paint the “Porsche” on the back of it..

Imagine glassing the rear wing, make it all smooth, paint it black with red inlaid into the “Porsche”, and the little flat around the top/rear/outside, paint red too, almost like a wide pinstripe..

I think it could look really sharp, especially on a more modernized looking car like this 941..

I will say I have always wanted to make a fiberglass or carbon wing via a mold. By this I mean a stock 931 wing first and go from there

I have said this before but I used to regularly use black shoe polish on my wing every week just to make it look nice. SO messy

I would shy away from brushing on polyester or epoxy resin due to having a hard coating over a relativley frexible sub subserface (think of a hard boiled egg). Plus once you put it on there is no going back.

Years ago I spray painted mine with some SEM brand spay paint made for touching up black trim, Duplicolor and VHT make a simular product. I was just starting to get those small holes that you mentioned that I think are mostly caused from U.V. deterioration and mine has held up very well, just needing a touch up about ever 3 to 4 years.

If yours is getting bad with surface imperfections I wonder if that spray on rubberized coating would be a good alternative. Something like Flexseal (I hate to mention that brand because the commercials are so cheesy) Rustoleum makes a simular product. I would still coat that with the black trim paint since that stuff stands up well to U.V. damage I also use the black trim paint on the bumper pads and they look great. Test a mall area first.

If yours has serious surface imperfections I wonder if you could use some black 3M weatherstriping adhesive and a small roller to build up the surface.
