Hi Guys I am 'carbing' hope that sounds right, a 924 and still fiddling with the install as some items such as bolts etc supplied with the order simply cannot be tightened due to restrictions from the inlet shape, but I have worked my way into this. My question is though has anyone fitted a good reliable electronic ignition system instead of the old points in the distributor which might help in starting and tune for a 1978 model 924. _________________ MANY CARS |

I'd consider adapting a Pertronix unit, although I can't say how difficult that would be. They make them for a couple different VW/Bosch distributors; I can't say they're the same or similar to the distributor in the 924, but it could work, especially if the magnet wheel fits the cam block. I ran one on an old American V8 for years and it never missed a beat. https://pertronixbrands.com/pages/pertronix-ignition-electronic-ignition-conversions _________________ 1980 931 diamond in the rough |
