Which exactly?

Most of the K26 turbos that looks like the on in jacobs link works. But if you have the smallest k26 2660 and want to keep the wheel you have to search for the turbos which have the same wheel size.

I mean the list is pretty massive, this is just part of it

If you want the slightly bigger wheel and housing the sk 2664 wheel heres some of them

check what you can find locally, the part number is easy to check up.

It was a compliment in that you are wiser and had time to reflect on what you have done. Even though you trail-blazed some really really cool ideas in your build, you still look back with some nostalgia to say 200-225 can be enough. That there there is something to be said on waiting for "S1-like" boost to come on. Oh I will add the smell, lets not forget the smell

Your threads help many more than you may know

Cedric

I need to look up the PN but its likely easy to find

The billet drop in upgrade for the 2660. It was supposed to have been tested this late summer / fall but we tagged on a small extra project on car reassembly that didn't beat the salt trucks around here. Waiting until early Spring. 10 PSI 2660 with Dan's LA TMIC. If everything runs nice, I'll get it dynoed for kicks

Yeah it could definitely be a good idea to upgrade the wheel, hopefully they should flow a bit more since the blades are thinner, they are often pretty decently designed aswell. I use a billet wheel in my 2670 compressor, since the original one had a damaged blade, though this was a batch ordered by a turbo shop, maybe they are readily available nowadays. Im very happy with the turbo+IC setup, boost comes on quite a bit earlier in the rev range than before(according to but dyno and logs , havnt been to the dyno after upgrades due to my engine build ), and then pulls hard all the way to red line, even though the turbine and compressor is significantly bigger.

Awesome

What I noticed on all the billet wheels is that the blade root is deeper or maybe I should say, they have a slimmer-hub so the blade surface area is larger and the inducer opening could then be larger 'to the inside' or toward the shaft, if they
carry the reduced hub diameter up to the nose by the nut.

Its like getting a larger inducer opening without actually going larger on the diameter. Subtle yes but free to take advantage of a millimeter or more

Its good to hear you say they can be decent in design

Guys can you identify what turbo I have based on these photos?
If not, what /where I need to look for to identify what turbo is it?

Not sure when I will be nearby my garage (currently 200km away).

So I am very sure you have a 6.10 Turbine Housing (that's really good news for you)

The other number on the bottom of the tag could be 266027

So it might be a 2660 Compressor with a 6.10 exhaust

I'm going by the location of triangular logo.

6.10 Left / 4.10 Right

On the exhaust propeller there is 12 blades if that clarifies anything (found another shot). I will try to upload more photos I found on my laptop shortly.

The best would be a camera down the inlet compressor side

With your pistons and 6.10 housing you might have the Euro S1 compressor which you will want to change for sure

Its the smallest one of all of them and looks old school when you see it.

This is all I could post quickly. A bit beat up

The turbo rebuilder seems to have removed the orginal tag, a bit unfortunate.

here you can see the size and connector differences between the 931 and 944turbo/audi etc.

heres a better picture to illustrate the wheel difference, the one to the right is the very ancient wheel thats originally on the euro s1. the left is from 951, but the outer diameter and design of the blades is similar to the other more modern 931 versions.

yes mike, regarding the center hub of the wheel. Roughly the flow capability is set by the smallest area between the blades, so narrower hub in combination with thinner wheels should be able to flow more in theory (other parameters can affect this aswell)

FYI if you are going for a turbo rebuild, in addition to the newer/better design compressor wheel, there is also a newer/better design and much lighter turbine wheel with shaft.

Good stuff guys about comparing the S1 turbo with 951.

Adding photos in high res of my engine where turbo is visible.
Maybe that helps to identify the cold side, as it seems the hot side is 6.10 when looking at Mike's photo.

I may ask my father to measure something over the weekend, but it seems without looking inside there is no way to distinguish S1 and S2 turbo as the housing is the same (2660), just the compressor wheel is different?

Sorry for silly questions, but for me I can distinguish small turbo, medium turbo, bi-turbo and a big turbo

So when I finally identify what I have, we'll discuss the upgrade options hopefully
