I empathise, I wrote one of my 924 na's off the fourth time I drove it at about 45kmph hitting a tree after hitting a wallaby (small kangaroo like thing) on my driveway and felt absolutely awful just looking at it for weeks, You will feel better with time, I would still drive it around with the roof like that but get those wheels lined up.
I also had a random head on with combined speed of 220kmph just over two years back and crushed my foot but miraculously survived, be grateful you are ok. I definitely slowed down too and my Suzuki Carry seemed a bit dangerous all of a sudden (I was driving my vintage Mercedes 230E which his a high tensile steel shell and the front wheel still ended up under the seat) You must have landed absolutely flat to not break the hatch or the windscreen, must have been very surreal, did it seem to be in slow motion? _________________ There is more to heaven and earth than is dreamed of in your philosophy... |

This hurts my soul
BUT.
The ****most**** important thing is that you weren't seriously injured. It's just a car, you'll find your way out of the doldrums, whether you move on or soldier on.

Need to figure out what to do with this car..
Still runs and drives great..
Noticed the door gaps where they meet the roof nearest the tops of the A pillars are smaller there by about 50% and the trim pieces that clip on there don’t seems to like the same curve as much as they used to..
Is that fixable?
I’ve thought about putting like a 4x4 or 4x6 beam across the roof there and trying to pick it up with our shop crane a bit to bend it back (when the GM is out of town) and try to straighten it back up that way but I am unsure..
The rest of it seems fixable..
I’ve had such terrible luck with cars this last year!!
GF rear ended some truck with our Forrester (easy beater car fix though), then I bought a very nice 11 6speed 328i Xdrive and the damn thing just had an electrical fire under the dash and totaled too..
Meanwhile I’ve been stuck on this crazy job in Hawaii for the last month and will probably be here another month..
Hello from Waikiki, working in Pearl Harbor/PHH 100+ hour weeks getting killed on an emergency response job..
Hoping 2022 works out better for me car wise..
Thinking about moving to Florida and only keeping my M3 for our daily, and the Porsches ofcourse.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified

transplant driveline and interior bits??? of course, you already have a modded narrowbody 931. but i think that's the route i'd be considering if it were me. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Wow that was fast..
Calling the shell a total loss is probably obviously the logical/sane thing to do, but I feel I need to fix this original car if at all possible due to its history and importance to all of those of the community..
I’d spend what I paid for it again to fix it if possible.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

Good timing.
Yeah, there is definitely sentimental value there. Having not seen the car in person it's hard to gauge whether it would be worth trying to salvage the shell at this point.

As said before, as crash damage goes, your's is relatively light.
There is nothing that can't be repaired or remanufactured given the resources and wherewithal.
The only way to repair your roof gap issues is to unstitch the roof panel and weld in a donor piece.
Now whether to go down this road is a question for you......what intrinsic value does this car hold. Is it a rare specimen....such as first 924T, or last 924T, or did Elvis own it, or was your first born conceived in the back seat, and so on.
If the car holds no emotional value, sell it on to someone who will repair it, or, part it out. After all, insurance has paid out on it, so you are not out of pocket. _________________ 80/81 932/8 ROW |

Maybe a good start is to give it to someone who are good at crash repairs and measure the body, to see if its worth straightening out. Im missing the experiments youve done with it, would be sad if it was no more.
100h a week! it's not war time last time i checked, sounds risky for your long term health, _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

It's not bad. We used to fix worse damage on our race cars in a weekend. A good body shop can get it perfect. KTF. _________________ 1979 924 NA race car
