Thanks!
I was astonished how relatively easy this turned out to be. Morghen, I'm glad you pushed me to use a modern fan, rather than trying to fit the later-style blower. You gave me just the encouragement I needed!

EDIT: Can i see some pictures of your 85? Mine has some small differences from the 84 and older 924s and i'm wondering if they were all made the same in 85. For example, heated windscreen sprinklers, electric boot opener like the 944, 944 sway bars, one additional frequency valve on the CIS. |
BTW, the frequency valve... do you mean the hot start valve ("Supplementary start valve" as per wiring diagram)? Under the fuel distributor? That one is installed in my car. I assume it may be stock for an 85, looks factory installed. I tested it, it's an electric valve that lowers fuel pressure on hot starts.

Yeah i meant that valve, i have it as well on my 85. Has never had a hot start problem and the fuel accumulator is surely dead by now.
Happy to see that this thing with the fan turned out so well, cant wait to do this mod for my buddie's 924.
Thank you for trying it and especially for sharing with our community. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

It also looks like a perfect place for using my 3D printer to make a neat fan adapter plate.,now ill just hope that my fan breaks 😂
I already changed the fan with the hack and glue back method many years ago, it was quite easy to do, but this is neater. And more flow is definitely needed on hot days. Now to the problem with the ridiculously awful connections beteende the air hoses and the heater core(that always pops of) , were those changed for the later cars? _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Cedric,
yes they were . I changed the plumbing between the heater box and the under dash hoses with parts off of the later heater box (later 924 and early 944) , see post 7 for pictures.
Although I did this to get heat out of the dash vents, this mod also replaces the crappy connections between center and side dash vents, those oddly shaped thingies that keep popping off and are impossible to seal tightly.

So what actual part (fan) did you actually order? your listing says VA40-A100-76A, but the picture you posted of installing says VA39-a101-45a. _________________ 1979 924 (Daily driver EFI)

I ended up with the VA39-A101-45A. The other one seemed a bit on the large side. Good thinking, from hindsight - I needed a bit of space to route the wiring between the housing and the fan

Sweet, thank you. I went ahead and ordered one. I was driving through the winter storm from cody to billings, and my blower motor went out right as i left cody. needless to say it was a miserably cold trip lol _________________ 1979 924 (Daily driver EFI)
