I have a 1981 924 that I have been restoring and trying to get running right. A short time ago I decided to reseal and gasket the CIS fuel distributor. I got the parts and pull the Fuel distributor. It is model 0438 100 065. I have found 2 things I need parts for. First, I need the return spring for the plunger that goes to the air flow sensor. I do not recall seeing one when I took apart. I have looked all over my work bench, the car engine bay and the floor and cannot find one. The car ran fair before I tore into it so there must have been one. Anywhere I can get one or does someone have one to sell?
Secondly, the central fuel feed core that the plunger runs in and supplies the fuel to the distributor has a plastic based filter that sits tightly between to circlips. In the process of replacing the O rings and trying to put new ones in place, I think the edges of this filter screen where the circlips sit got damaged. I cannot get the circlips seated and the ends of the filter screen do not fit properly into the recess on the fuel feed core and getting reassembled is proving a real challenge. Again, does anyone know where to get one? I can send a photo if you don't understand what I want.
Some of the VW rabbits from those years uses a similar CIS system and although a long shot it might work. I have noted on some you tube videos that the screen filter above is not available so finding one to salvage seems the only viable route. If anyone has a VW CIS system from those years available for parts I would appreciate a lead. Thanks.. Ted |

It goes beneath the plunger and the top of the upper cast piece of the fuel distributor. Here is a link to an ad I just found on ebay. It shows the plunger and the spring.

There are three pictures. The first shows the plunger and the second and third show the spring I am talking about. ..Ted |

hmm ive never seen those springs on any of the metering heads ive taken apart. the fuel pressure pushes down plenty hard to keep it from getting stuck. _________________ ive saved alot of 924's

Perhaps that is why I could not find it. Maybe it was never there.... I got to thinking along the same line ie-fuel pressure will push down. Some of the youtube videos show it. Look at the attached link and you will see them remove the spring right after they clean it up.

Perhaps some used it and some did not. Anyway I ordered on from the UK. Now if I could just find a screen filter that goes on the plunger core. Thanks for your comment. --ted |
