Hi!
Together with my mates we have bought Porsche 924. Unfortunately car had LPG installation installed. Whole electric installation was changed. We tried to fix only the part that we need, but after a lot of smoke from switchgear we decided to start from the beginning.
We have installed fuel pump and before we have tested it in the lab with lab power source. - it is working.
We have also checked fuel pump relay. In the lab when we put voltage on the pin 1 and 15 the power circuit is connected.
The ignition coil was connected to by fuse (of course it was changed) and the Transistor ignition unit was not in the car but in the box... So The relay does not work, the pump does not work, the ignition coil does not work.
The TIU that we have is from BMW: 0 227 100 025
The TIU that is for Porsche is: 0 227 100 010
So we have 4 questions:
1. Is the TIU from BMW replaceable with this for Porsche? I guess not (they even does not look the same)
2. How to check if TIU is working? I only managed to check that pins in bottom row (center and left) are connected. I cannot even dismounted the box becoause it is not on screw it is on rivets.
3. What shall be the voltage on ignition coil on pins 1, 15 and output to distributor?
4. What shall be the level of resistance between 1 and 15? We have 3.3 Om.
Thank you for all the answers.
Best regards,

The transistorial ignition unit is not interchangeable from any other car. Or at least its not guaranteed to work.
To check if the ignition system is working, first disable the fuel pump, then take one spark plug and connect it to a lead wire, then place the spark plug on the engine so that the metal of the spark plug touches the metal of the engine.
Then crank the car and have someone look at the spark plug while cranking.
If no sparks are produced, then you have a fault in the ignition system.
If sparks are produced the ignition system is probably fine to at least start the car. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

| Thank you very much for reply. We did exactly what you have written and we have no spark. So i guess that we shall bought the 0 227 100 010 TIU. |

The coil's spark is controlled by the TIU from the distributor pickup, unless you have points there is no direct cable from dist to coil _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

| I will try do it much more simple. 12 V on + mass on - That have to work. In simpler systems there were no TIU and it worked properly |
