Hey guys,
I haven't been here in a long time. This will be wordy.
I'm at a tough spot in life right now, (going through divorce, moved out, totalled my daily driver ~3 weeks ago)..
So, I'm in a rush for another DD, and as such, my toofah is probably going to have to go. I've had it for 4 years and it's been a love/hate relationship... But when its running right it is pure love. Lol. I'm one of those guys that's wanted a 924S since early teens.
I've put a lot of money in it over the years, sort of got milked when I bought it and on my first FOES... It happens.... But it has always been in good driveable shape.
I had been driving it up until the dead of winter of 2014, about once a week to work which is 42 miles each way. Drove great. I started noticing the alternator making a whirring noise.. And concluded the bearings were going out and it was probably on its last leg. Being winter anyway, I parked it.
So it's sat since January 2015, (other than starting it occasionally to let it run a few minutes).. Because I haven't had time to get to alternator.
Fast forward a few months... Divorce, have to move out.. Need to move Porsche. While I'm putting things in UHaul, I have battery on charge because it died.. Done loading Uhaul.. Start car to let it warm up a few minutes and come back and notice puddle under radiator. Check reservoir, nothing in it. Car is starting to get warm, so I turn it off, let it cool down. Grab coolant to refill and it basically all pours out the bottom of radiator within a few minutes. Never had a problem holding coolant before. Only thing I can think of is weather related cracking from being cold to hot outside over the years. Don't have a garage, so I've always kept it outside and covered/tied.
So, I end up having it towed to new location.
My real question is this... I have a little over $5000 in the car from purchase price to maintenance/fixes over 4 years. I know it's the radiator and alternator. I also know what they cost.. This is an auto, (wait... What???? ), so i know radiators run $600-700 and alternators can be had pretty cheap.
So either myself or someone else will probably be looking at $750 minimum for repair.
My question is, how much do I sell it for? And am I just damn insane for not keeping it, even though I need the money? I know I will never see the money I have in it, but it's a nice car and I hate to give it away over a $750 dollar repair. The only thing that lets me talk myself into parting with it, is that maybe later on, I can get the '88 5-speed I really want.
How much can I realistically expect to get out of it in it's current condition?
I'm attaching pics... The interior is in equal shape as the exterior.
Just need to get an idea and any opinions.. Again, sorry for the novel and as always, I appreciate your help.

Neither job is much money, nor difficult, used radiators are about 100 bucks. There are a couple on car-part.com in your area. You're giving it away on CL for 1000 though.

I appreciate the reply.
I feel the same way about giving it away. I need the money, but didn't realize used AT radiators in good condition could be had so cheap. I know the alternator doesn't cost much. So it does now sound like a lot better option than just handing it over to someone.

I have an automatic style radiator in my manual track car. And, I have a spare manual one. However, have a track weekend coming up, if you are still in trouble on this later in June send me a PM. _________________ '83 944 Track car.
