Incase anyone was interested in an upgraded clutch from spec
Here is some of their correspondence to me
"Clutches are rated in torque, so for 250 ft lbs + with good clutch life I like st2+ or 3. The small 8.5 diameter is limiting, even with our high clamp load version. The st1 is OK just over 200 ft lbs, but I’d rather help you get into your budget than sell you something that may not live as long as you want. Has the car been on the dyno yet ?"
And
"Yes, st2+ would be fine..stage 3 as well. The st3 is plenty streetable, but on the upper end of street aggressiveness, so the engagement will be quicker than a normal fiber based clutch. The st2+ is a hybrid and drives very nicely. So I would choose based on desired engagement feel from a stop..the 2+ will feel more like stock than the 3, but the st3 is still considered a street/track unit. "
I emailed them asking for a streetable clutch option to directly swap Into the stock 924 clutch with 250hp plus ( aftermarket turbo )
I went with spec stage 2 plus and it fit it perfectly... Still haven't tested it _________________ 1979 NA

The part number for the spec 2+ is
SP153H I purchased for $445 + shipping from USA
Race boy -- I read somewhere you said that you hit 300hp on stock engine with boost and gearbox was fine if you didn't do 1st gear launch... This makes me happy to hear!
What's your opinion on gear staged boost...
Ie - low psi boost in first gear then once hitting second gear -high boost( simple gear switch) _________________ 1979 NA

Wanted to go for a Spec stage3 too, but this is what they said about torque capacity; | Quote: | | This kit is rated to handle 240lb.-ft at the crank. |
which is 325nm... recon it can hold a bit more than that since the stock clutch can hold about 300 nm at the crank.
So have sent my clutch to a Dutch company (Vekoma) to strengthen it; total costs came down to 500 euro (including reducing the weight of the flywheel) and they guarantee it to 500 nm. |
