Hi all,

This week i've been looking for a new fuel relay for my 78 924 and haven't had any luck finding it. So the question is, does anyone know where I can get one. Tried places like Pelican parts, autoalanta, and a few other Porsche sites but still nothing.

number on relay # 477-906-059

note: The relay does have a Fuse on top of it, in case the fuse burns out.

Thanks everyone:)

These are NLA, I bought mine in the USA! They need the fuse because the fuel pump circuit on early cars doesn't have a fuse on the fuseboard.

Not sure if a 1979 is the same but I got a few parts from these guys. Very nice to deal with.

I herd a rumor you can take a 1980 relay, crack it open and wire in a inline fuse

I think there is a bit more to it than that, but I am no electrician. The early relays are 6 pin, the later ones 5 pin. I think you have to modify the wiring such that the fuel pump no longer operates from the switch on the air flow intake flap, but from the switched ignition live, but on the face of it that means the pump will continuously run if the ignition is on, not a good thing in a crash!

Needs someone with a bit more knowledge than me! Don't forget though that an in line fuse is necessary as there is no fuel pump circuit fuse on these early cars, other than the one on the relay.

Be good to know if there is a viable alternative in the event these relays are unobtainable.

So i get power to my fuel pump but im not getting power to my cold start stuff. AKA cold start valve, thermo time switch, aux air valve and something else I think.

The idea was to just buy a new fuel pump relay and see if that fixed those problems. I thought i read somewhere that all these where powered by the fuel pump relay.

Any idea's?

I will also check wire diagram tonight.

Thanks everyone, big help

Yep all of those are connected to the fuel pump relay.

If fuel pump shut off is what your worried about, you could put in a secondary relay connected to the alternator, if the alternator stops the fuel will be cut. On starting, when the alternator is generating power would flip the switch. Tho you may have to put in some kinda timer with some minor circuitry.

Also, be advised,.. I don't think there is rollover valves in these cars anyway. Hell they don't even have lap belts, lol.

If the fuel pump is running, but the other items are not, then I don't think it is the fuel pump relay, but perhaps the relay panel itself or the power and ground connections for those items.

Check the grounds under the dash, behind the relay/fuse panel and the connections under the hood (specifically the ground points). Worst case, the relay/fuse panel itself could be corroded internally, which is a bit of a pain to deal with, but if you're careful you can get it out and clean it up.

Good luck,
