That is nowhere near strong enough. Not by a long shot. Replace it before you go out on the road.

I was thinking the same thing ..Add 2 stiffiners 1 on each side at an angle and attach it to the body between the side window and hatch.

Joe,
bad move attaching between those door jamb pillars, there are welded in ferrules for the rear seat belt point 12inches back too...
spend the cash and get an approved bar Joe... this is something you want a certified unit for,

also i would suggest using 3 bar clips for the seatbelts around the bar rather than putting the bolts and clip that way

my bar is certified and uses the original seatbelt holes on B pillar

not sure what a ferrule is...
I use the oem seatbelt top bolts(13mm if i remember well) in their oem location
The bar was made with only 1 hole on each side for this purpose
I'll take pictures when i get the car back from the garage

Oem mounts are ferrules, threaded inserts that are load rated attachment points,
I would also be careful with a single bolt ad this can potentially unscrew if provisions are not made to counter this, the stock mount has a spacer that allows the seatbelt tab to spin.

that harness bar will only take about 250lbs until it yields (assuming you have a passenger in the car with you). You will provide a much greater force if you are in an accident.

Have you checked out the bolt in type roll bars that you can mount harnesses to? Chrenan bought a really nice one from germany, but there is another one that is made in the USA that bolts in (without drilling).

$100

Still doesn't solve the issue of not being able to move if you roll the car and the top comes down on your head. Or your cheap seats collapse if hit from behind and your head impacts that bar. Or that your neck has to hold your head up all by itself without a HANS to keep your head from trying to leave your body in the event of a sudden deceleration.

As much as I don't like some of the things you do as they aren't my preference or taste (or make sense to me), this isn't one of those times. This is about safety of a fellow Porsche driver and it isn't something to mess around with. You are going out of your way to make the car less safe in the guise of safety.

Reuse the bar elsewhere to hold a trunk cover or something and get at least a real 4-point cage installed with appropriate padding if you're going to run harnesses all the time. I can put you in touch with a local shop that does excellent fab work and does many of the cages for the local racers, he takes pride in his work and you'd probably get along with him.

It was a car off of Russ's website that he did, I don't remember which one, I was just looking for an example of something that Russ built and what a real cage/harness bar looks like.

Joe, being stubborn and willing to kill or mame himself in the guise of "Safety" is another matter and his "harness bar" will not pass muster by any official of any race track in the country, for good reason.
