My 79 toofah developed a MASSIVE hole in it yesterday. It sounds like one of those fast and furious cars that I like to laugh at. Anyway. I am looking at Magnaflow, trying to keep cost under$80. I can do the work myself, I'm just not sure what to go with. I want the nice deep rumble like a Porsche should have. I am open to your experience and wisdom.

944 exhaust fits, check out some of the systems available.

I like Magnaflow mufflers.

Deep rumble requires more displacement and/or a turbo

Stefan is correct. I had a Magnaflow on a Mustang 5.0L V8 in my Jeep Wrangler years ago. Race car sound, chick magnet. A friend took the same muffler, and put it on the standard 4.0L six cylinder jeep engine. Sounded tinny. On a 2.0L engine? Prolly wouldn't work.

Several folks over in the 944 forums have found that if you add a resonator in front of a performance muffler, the sound is pretty good. It seems that a performance muffler alone is not enough. I suspect the 924 2.0 engine responds similarly.

That's what I have. A cat, a glasspack and then a generic "Super Turbo" muffler on the back (I blew the original "performance" muffler off the end of the pipe while trying to start the car, heh)

I think it sounds pretty good for a small 4 without being overly annoying, tinny, etc.

All I had on my 77 was a generic turbo muffler. It sounded really good, if you could ignore the cloud of smoke around and inside the car.

I run a 22" dynamax resonator into a dynamax bullet muffler, sound good.

As my car has been in the garage for way too long I may have rose colored hearing aids, but I put a stainless Supertrapp on the end of mine and it sounded great!
