I read that later model 944's had an adapter plate for 6.5 round speakers in the rear but I was wondering if if anyone has done this in a narrowbody. According to my expert measurements I should have enough depth and width to fit them in with some cutting of the sheetmetal and no cutting of the interior panel.
Thoughts?

I've got 6x9's in mine. As far as the adapter for the later 44s, are you referring to the 10 speaker system that some of them came with?

No, I was referring to this, apparently on later model cars.

The 924S also has this setup. The hole is roughly 4" deep and looks like it should accommodate most speakers. The factory speaker was only about 3" deep, so even on the narrow body, there is plenty of room.

good info guys, thanks. I plan to mount 6.5's in rear and move the 4x6's to the doors which currently have no speakers.

Speakers are in. Not finished yet, but in. There is a bunch of room back there.

And for those of you who aren't real audio guys like me, here is a size comparison of 4x6 and 6.5 round speakers. I kinda thought the 6.5 would be ALOT bigger but not really.
