Last two I saw sell in Germany went for sub $1200. Can't remember the exact price but could have been less than $1000. Two have been on ebay.de in the last two years _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

From a sellers point of view, I'm gonna be looking for $1600 US. Anything less and its worth more to me on the shelf. _________________ 1981 931 CGT replica, OEM CGT intercooler, .8 BAR WG spring, GTS Headlights, Innovative Wide band A/F, A/C delete, 16" Fuchs, Weltmeister 200lb lowering springs, Bilstein HDs front, Koni Sport rears. |

Just looked back. A genuine CGT TMIC sold in June 2010 for €710.
For similar money you could buy a 951 front end/FMIC/Rad, cut off and weld into your 931, repaint nose, plumb in and still have change
Anything more than €1000/$1000 and you're dreaming. Best keep it on the shelf! _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

Wow, are they that good or it’s only base on rarity.
A used 951 FMIC cost between $50 and $100 and I would believe they are more efficient. _________________ 1976 924 N/A ROW SOLD

Not as much as they used to be worth before Dan contracted Bell Intercoolers to fab up a better unit. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Those who have one tend think they are worth around 1000-1200 euros but those who wish they had one think its worth less. This way or that way, the genuine Längerer & Reich unit already has some historical value to it too. There are better intercoolers out there for a lot less but the LR unit is from Le Mans homologation version and therefore it is special and worth a lot more than a 951 unit which you can buy for pocket money.
911 Carrera RS '73 is a damn expensive car but are there better cars available for a lot less money? Sure. How about an early 356? Maybe you could buy one for 5000 euros if you just told the seller that they aren't actually that good. _________________ Mikko

Bah, you don't need no 951 front clip... just a metal saw and some zip ties... _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

I think ultimately the pricing of these units are highly dependent on each particular buyer... its not as if they are available very often. If someone is deadset on making a CGT replica, or in need of a replacement for whatever reason, then they'll pay a premium. If its just as an IC option for a 931 then less so.
The "CHEAP" 951 IC idea gets thrown alot but unless you can fab stuff yourself it will be just as costly if not more. (caveat: I agree that performance wise it is the best solution, but bolt on... it is not.)
I think Rasta is right that Ideola's TMIC solution makes the OEM unit less attractive but then again for $1200 what would you rather have??? Because the OEM units are rare a buyer gets the benefit of real world value baked in. Buy an CGT IC and it will be worth a good amount of the price you paid, if not more, down the road.
I personally don't think $1600 is out of line, might take a little while to find a buyer but the IC isn't gonna spoil sitting on the shelf in the meantime. _________________ 1981 931 CGT replica, OEM CGT intercooler, .8 BAR WG spring, GTS Headlights, Innovative Wide band A/F, A/C delete, 16" Fuchs, Weltmeister 200lb lowering springs, Bilstein HDs front, Koni Sport rears. |

No. It was done by the body shop so just a before and after pics. Cut and welded at the 'seams' so it looks OEM rather than a 'bodge' with a saw and zip ties _________________ 1980 931 - forged pistons, Piper cam, K27/26 3257 6.10 hybrid turbo, 951 FMIC, custom intake, Mittelmotor dizzy & cam pulley, H&S exhaust, GAZ Gold, Fuch'ed, Quaife

In my view CGT original intercooler would be worth the 1000+ euro sum only for period correct replica or repair of the authentic GT.
For this kind of sum one can buy a complete turbo kit+ modified 951 intercooler (doesn't require removing badge panel) and have 250+hp on his 924. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

it comes from 931 ori look here Many owners have thought of installing an intercooler in their vehicle .Some have searched for the original Carrera GT unit. Some have tried the 951 unit, and some have fitted units from other makes. No luck trying to find an original. The only one that could be located was priced at $2500/US. There are also “homemade” units available ,but the quality may be questionable, so those were avoided. A 951 unit was purchased at last year’s Hershey swap meet for $150/US. The unit’s part number is: 951.110.137.03 It is very large and well constructed. It was used on the 951 Turbo S, which produced 247hp: a 931 won’t outgrow it _________________ if the 924 is a audi the 911 is a beetle |
