Lets discuss our intake temperatures.
Anyone with experience can chime in, however, only the cool kids with intercoolers will be listened to...
I can start, as of late, while driving around, Tuner Studio shows roughly 95 degree (Fahrenheit) intake charge on average. Sometimes higher if I'm idling for a bit and lower while driving. Ambient temps on these days are between 75-85* F air temp.
The IAT sensor is taken from the back of my modified manifold.
I do not have any measurements from the intercooler or outside of the intake manifold.
I'd also like to note that my downpipe runs right next to my coolant lines (NOT ideal!) so I've been fighting extra radiant heat into my cooling system from the DP. I'm working on fixing that so it doesn't heat soak the engine.
I'm running an ebay-style FMIC. 2.25 inch pipe charge tubes. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Driving around? Driving around? How did it turn out, brother?
Oh, and fighting temps? What coatings did you use? Stock radiator? _________________ Toofah King Bad

Stock radiator.
My manifold and downpipe are ceramic coated.
I plan to pick up a turbo blanket and wrap my oil drain line and possibly one of the big coolant lines with the heat resistant shielding.
Like I said, I believe I'm getting a lot of heat soak from the turbo/downpipe because it is in close proximity to the coolant lines/radiator.
The turbo blanket should help significantly. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Bit late to chip in here but with my charger I get:
Ambient air temp = approx 18*C
At 1bar boost: supercharger outlet temp (pre FMIC) = 125*C
Manifold air temp (in manifold opposite #1 runner) = 35*C
Motorway cruising SC outlet = 80*C
MAT = 32*C
To be honest with the short amount of time that boost is used there is a sufficient heat soak effect with my 951 FMIC to minimise the MAT increase. The 35*C is actually once I come off boost as the temp rise lags behind so on the road, peak intake temps are alomost always off boost after the acceleration which is great for knock suppression!
I have a feeling that it might be overcome on the track though as the heat soak benefit is lessened.
With my all ally radiator I don't see water temps above 85*C when moving with a 79*C thermostat and stock cooling route. _________________ UK spec '83 N/A with 931 motor with Eaton MP62 'charger @ 15psi.
