I have a transistorised ignition box which seems to be from a 1981(late type) model. I would like to fit it on a 1979 model which has a normal ignition system eg, distributor with points. This unit is supposed to be period type and factory fit also, is there anything else I would need besides the unit? Iv checked with Haynes but theres only a scematic of the system which I cant understand on page 127. Will i need the coil, whole distibutor also?
Thanks

There's a bit of wire for it and yes, the distributor is different. _________________ Stefan

Ok so i need the distibutor as a whole, I presume this is a straight fit. The transistorised system is still fitted to the car and it seems the whole wiring system is also in place. If I were to remove these wires carefully, by marking and labelling them if necassary, would I need to extend the wiring system on the 79 model so that both ends meet or will these wires fit /clamp into the existing wiring on the 79 model. Shall I also choose the 81 model coil since this seems to have some sort of resistor wires according to Haynes??
Thanks

I have most of the wiring from an '81 turbo car if you're interested. Would have the Lambda box connector as well as the DITC connector. Ideola has the Lambda box and relay if you want the whole shebang. And, either he or I would have the correct distributor as well.
IF, this is what you guys are talking about of course. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Thanks grenadiers but I think the transistorised system Im referring to might be a different item though I stand to be corrected on this. The unit is for a 'webbered' NA 924 and not a turbo, which might be the difference of the units. In either case I have all the wiring that goes with the transistorised ignition unit. All I want to know is if i need any other additional wiring installed besides the wiring at hand to meet the connectors of the Transisorised system in the 79 model which is fitted with a normal 'points' distibutor. Or if any other modifications to the exisiting wiring system on the 79 model would be needed.
Thanks
