With the engine out, you won't have vacuum assist, which means your pedal will be harder to press than with the engine running.

You've got another issue with your brakes. The E-brake is in absolutely no way related to engine, and the assist to the service brakes is unavailable when the engine isn't running.

Perhaps the master cylinder or brake lines were affected when pulling your motor. Either that, or the seals have dried up and you need a rebuild.

What electrical components do you want to test?

Thanks guys. Im guessing the rear drum seals have dried up. They didnt look too good. There was alot of gunk in there which Im thinking is brake fluid that collected brake dust.

As for electrical, I just want to verify that everything is working. I had a pretty bad back feed when my started wires got crossed, and there was some light smoke coming from under the dash and near the fuel pump

Gunk in brake lines is usually the rubber seals and lines breaking down. Not good.

Make sure the drums are properly adjusted as well. They don't automatically adjust and can cause low pedal, etc.

Lights need to be on and there is a tilt switch in the light fitting. (unless replaced)

Must be a faulty tilt switch then...

I just got a victor reinz gasket set for the bottom end. I have 3 pieces left over from it.-

-A brass washer
-2 Clear plastic tube things that look like they are heat shrink

Where do they go?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe these where usefull on the LT/100 that used the same engine's bottom end?
…or belong to the 931/CGT?

I've got a Goetze set on the shelf that shows the brass ring,
but I don't recognize the two clear plastic tube things in there.
HTH

Regards, Harm.

Might those be used to put over the end of something that is threaded to protect something else?

For example, put them over the rod bolts to protect the crank during reassembly, or put them over something else to protect a gasket from tearing.

I have no idea how big they are, so these are only guesses.

I could be wrong as I don't have a '80 model, but i think the straps are there so the roof doesn't blow off if you decide to prop the back open.
