I am going to mount a 951 intercooler on my 931 (with cis).

What will be better, cut an original manifold an modifie it or build a new manifold ?

I used the search but I can only find custom manifolds for EFI/951 intercooler combination.

Or this one with stock inlet manifold http://picasaweb.google.com/111470514161382354517/Intercooled931InNZ?gsessionid=prwLNFSQvZYPqc5CoFQleA

Consensus is that a custom intake manifold will work best if you want to shorten/improve the line between the 951 FMIC and cylinders

My modified / customized approach (from this thread):

There are several others documented here on the forum, which you should be able to dig up with some searching...

I like all those approaches.

I do fancy having a go at making one like Ideola's with a spare manifold I have.

+1

I have a man lined up already to do this.

Dan, any feedback on this set up?

Sadly, it's not in use yet, as the Ultra Wide Body project is on the back burner until I complete the Club Sport. But it was fairly easy for my welder to fabricate, and I'm very optimistic about how it will function.

I also like the ideola manifold. . .might move the add-on portion up flush, though.

If you do that, you'll have to rotate the throttle body 90 degrees and mount it sideways, along with fabbing up a custom throttle body bracket & assembly. With the TB so far forward, the diffuser plenum has to be down on the side of the manifold to avoid interfering with the closed hood, which is much lower that far forward than where the main plenum sits.

If anyone wants to pay for it, I'll certainly have my manifold flow tested...

Otherwise I'm going to wing it - sorta.

Has anyone tried a modified Audi/VW 1.8T inlet manifold and the cyl head flange plate from the 931? I guess the question is, how far apart are inlet ports on both engines? Are they close? Do they line up?
