| Trying to remove power windows from a parts car today. Can't cut a big hole in the inner door panel. Is there a simple way to take apart the power window unit and get it out, or do I have to win a fiddling contest with satan to make this happen? |

I ended up disassembling the whole door to get my first one out, but the second one came out when I just removed the screws from the regulator and slid it to he side. one of the arms is on a pivot, so you can rotate once you get it out of the track.
The window was up when I did mine, and I had a hand holding the glass up (but you can probably get away with a decent amount of duct tape) _________________ proud owner of a 1979 924 Sebring Edition with a 931 trans that looks horrible but somehow runs... |

I just removed two, only took a few minutes on each door. The upper left door slot is where you feed the window arms thru, and the motor follows. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

I've tried this at every angle but no luck. Maybe I'm just being too ginger with it. One of these days they'll design a car where the inner door panel can be unbolted, wouldn't that be a dream? _________________ 1979 924 NA

No, my windows were up, not sure if that makes a difference. After removing the screws holding the mech. to the door, the window can be removed. There after, the scissor arms are put together, and then fed thru the opening. _________________ '83 944 Track car.

Just started tearing apart an '81 931, and now I know why power windows were so much easier to remove for some people than others. The entire unit in the 931 is MUCH smaller than the '79 924 _________________ 1979 924 NA

That's odd. I have a drivers side power window regulator to put in my 84 944 and it is the same (mirror image) of the 944 passenger side. The early motor is slightly different though. I never had any problems getting these out of any year. _________________ 84 944--924 Carrera GTS clone w/520HP Chevy 302 V8--RUNNING!
