Should be possible... I'm doing that actually...
the engines are the same in many ways.
Some differences; head, flywheel, starter, oil filter stuff, manifolds, alternator (position)...
you'll probably need most of the 931 parts, if you're using a 931 engine, you'll need the clutch, bellhousing, torque tube etc...
less effort to get a 931 or charge a N/A engine.
There are probably others here who can give you more details about what I mentioned above... _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

Search for a BAE turbo kit. Its the easiest way to get a turbo on your car. they are very rare and not the best solution, but workable given your situation.
Otherwise, you'll have to find a 931 to part out. Or you'll need to build your own turbo solution, which is a ton of metal fabrication work. (there was a Dutch? non-turbo that had a turbo grafted onto it, neat solution, search the forum for information on it)
The sidedraft carburetors won't work well with the turbocharger, so don't lose the stock intake manifold and throttle body. The carburetors can be made to work, but I would research how that is done to get an idea of the work involved. _________________ Stefan

Of course you can, you just keep the block, the crank and the cam from your engine and then basically change all the rest of the parts to 931 parts...
Hey, I dind't say it was easy... just that you CAN do it...
5-lug conversion is best carried out by getting the parts from an early 944 (same parts as 931 and m471 924s har using) simply because there are more 944s than 931s hanging around.
What parts you need would be like all the breakparts (including main brakecylinder, excluding fixed brakelines) as well ass the parts holding the wheels to the chassie. Also you will need the 5 lug wheels of course... _________________ www.patandracing.se |

Hi hadrian. I had considered going turbo with one of my projects, and going turbo still interests me too. I have some ideas and sketches about how to go turbo on an n/a engine which I could share with you too.
Since your from malta too I can even recommend someone who could do the piping for you and give you some ideas of how to go for it.
yet since you are already webbered, why dont you consider modifying the head only? It seems that just by installing the webbers you have already made the head breath better acording to certain advise which I was given, and ideola could set you up with a good set of bigger valves, springs etc also. You would need to excahnge the cam too for more power and if you want to go a step further you can also modying the lower end by exchanging your present pistons to higher compression bigger piston (87.5mm accrding to ideola) .
Im sure you will have fun with both setups though.
Good luck/

There are turbo Dellertos 40´s you can use. Think Lotus Esprit. Weber can easily be converted to blow-through if you want intercooler in your setup, use the older brass floaters. If you choose to put the carb in front of the turbo that can be solved as well with double rings and a vented axle on the compressor side. Having the throttle in front of the turbo reduce lag and eliminate the dumpvalve - look at F1 in the 80´.
Try to find an exhaust manifold from the LT31, they do turn up on Ebay. Turn it upside down and route it in front on the engine. _________________ Carl Fredrik Torkildsen
