Hey guys,

Need help identifiying a part

The top bolt on the alternator goes through the 2 brackets mounted onto the block. On those 2 brackets there are metal sleeves with what im guessing use to have some kind of rubber around them to centre the bolts.

Mine have worn or perished so my alternator is sitting lob sided.

Does anyone have a part number for these bits, or their name?

Or well, any other car that uses them? Or a suggested fix for this..

Cheers all

Ok done

The upper alternator mount has 2 sleeves and a rubber that slips over them. The rubbers had both perished and fallen out, part number for future reference of the rubbers is: 059 903 263

No one had the rubber on the island so if you want to make your own:
Get a 10c euro coin, some thick 1cm~thick hard rubber, cut a circle the size of the 10c coin, sand it down until it just squeeze into the hole, make a hole in the middle so it just fits over the sleeve, squeeze it back into the hole with the sleeve and job done, you will need to sand it down a little more and then tap it into place. Hope this helps someone one day when doing a search..

Enjoy

Porsche superceeded the rubber bushings to poly over 20 years ago. Local auto part stores here were still selling the rubber version last time I checked.

The rubber bushing didn't last long or wear well. The poly ones are truely a PITA to install, but they last forever. I've never replaced any of the poly bushings after I switched them on my 924s. and I have some that are over 20 years old in my 81 924.

Sorry for the bump, sigh, I see why hard rubber was superceeded..

Ozzie, which model/year Toyota 4x4 suspension bushings did you use? Ill be picking some up tomorrow from the local Toyota dealer

I actually have some rubber mounts that Tom had given me. My problem right now enough is the alternator brackets. I have not been able to find any online, but once my garage gets cleaned I am going to take a look and see if I can make a homeade reokacent, or take the brackets off, and see about getting some manufactured.

I went to napa and found the rubber bushings for 3 bucks for a set of four. Bring the metal insert that the bushings go on. they have a rack full of misc grommets and I found a set that fit perfect. I was very excited. had alt remounted in 20 min.

Has anyone found fittable bushings that are NOT rubber?

It seems as though any oil that gets on these deteriorates them.

Fix your oil leaks

Seriously, measure the ID and the OD needed and order some generic PolyBushings from here:

Except my rubber bushings are all decomposed, and I honestly don't know what the original sizes or thickness of them are.
