Come on you guys, that turbo is mint. Look at the straightness of it and originality. The dash isint even cracked and interior not torn.

Buy the turbo and to hell with the kids!

Well, I drove the Turbo on Friday and...it was not the car for me. The car looked fantastic, every thing is there, its not hacked apart or molested.

But I knew something was terribly wrong when the seller told me he had more fun driving his 1999 Sunfire because "it has more power than my Porsche"

**Gasp** I ignored that comment, subconsciously storing it away for pondering once I could wrap my head around it at a later time.

So we went over the car and I feel its a great car but the carpet padding, not the carpet, was soaked, I mean soaked to the core with water. It had rained the night before and the car has recently lost its spot in the garage and the seal flapping in the wind on the sunroof is most likely the culprit there.

The car has had mediocre body and paint work to the nose and left front fender, but I was in the body business for 5 years a while back and it wasn't bad at all and didn't scare me off.

The thing that scared me off was the total lack of power. I could hear and feel the turbo but there was no more than 95 or 100 HP coming out of that car. So after that I really knew it wasn't the car for me. I have driven these cars and never have I even felt a N/A car move so slow. It would make a fantastic project for someone who wanted to do the motor.

The 931 has been for sale since I started looking and that was last September. He sent me few high res pics of the car. (I can forward, PM me your email address).
Car has had a repaint and there is lots of overspray in the engine compartment. Needs a lot of detailing and timing belt cover.
Seats are torn, drivers side stitched up but you can see it and pass side was not fixed at the time I got the pics.
Dash has cracks but they are small and it's actually pretty good. Considering the amount of fade on the carpet it looks like the dash was changed at some point, or it had a cover to keep the sun off.
Be careful, the speedometer is not original, speedo is white and should be green like the rest of the gauges.
Underside looks farily good and original.
Other than his reluctance to drop the price (he was asking $3k at that time) I would have bought it last year.

hahahah yeah ideal! buy both. 924s for day to day turbo for track

Interesting that 924 turbo is super slow, how has it lost some 80 bhp?

Do you think its just a CIS issue no fuel pressure low delivery and all the other jazz

I'm heartbroken. Just got off the phone with the seller of the S as I was going to firm up the deal and he told me the rear main seal blew out when he went to move the car this morning...

It's a blessing in disguise but all the time I had put into this is painful to just throw away. Back to the drawing board...

Wow did you go like wtf. Depending on deepness of pockets
buy the 931 and find a good cis german shop and go shoit off
to them. He might do some magic work on it for you & take
your soul on a journey that doesnt require payment in gold.

What the 924s guy meant was - Ive decided to keep it.

buy the 931 turbo. It would take time to find a 931 like this.
The facts it slow is minor seeing how overall its in 1 peice complete, original and in running condition.

But only at a reasonable price.

My thoughts exactly. Regardless of what the seller is doing with the car. I did toss over a fairly low offer on the Turbo, so if he does accept I will have some room in my budget to spend some money on the motor, but he relisted today at a higher price than the ad I saw so I doubt that will come to anything.

But like you said, I can wait longer for a nicer one, maybe my budget will have expanded by a couple grand by then

**UPDATE w/ PICS**

I decided to chase down a long shot and I got it. I wound up buying a mint 85.5 944 that has been really taken care of and is sporting a new fresh paint job. The car turned out to be fantastic and I love it. He had originally listed for $6200 but the market helped him realize that wasn't a realistic price.

I still love this forum though. The link to my car is the sellers ad and I got it for $4300. And yes there is red overspray on the muffler, no big deal.

Thanks for all your help guys, it was great. Hope I see you on the roads!

Congrats on the 944! They're great cars (see my sig below). You must realize that you're now just beginning the slide down the slippery slope of wasser-pumper addiction...
