Personally for what you want Chris an twin fan would be a good idea (944 I think) but I'd have it on a switch so you have a single fan on the normal thermo switch and an extra fan on a secondary switch.

That way if one fails it doesn't take both out. Also you can hit the aux fan as soon as you finish the lap not wait for the system to heat up.

Why are you modifying a system that obviously works, even with a single fan. Fix the problem instead of modifying. Common problem with people on this bord

Hey I dont weant to hi-jack a thread but ley me through in a question.

Im going to dual fans and since its a turbo, its only fitting the
the thermo switch work like it should. I used to run with a on -
off switch on the dash (or the fly). Now in the future I dont want
to have to stay around to man the dash switch to shut it off
after cool down.

I have the wires & complete set up for the dual fans i just to know
how to get power to them ...
Can I just splice it in to a power wire.

The car isn't standard any more! It's producing over 200 BHP and is used for track days and Trips to The Nurbergring where it gets thrashed to within an inch of it's life.

To me it makes sense to upgrade the cooling system, newer and more expensive Porsches are a bit warm after a lap of The Ring!

This may or may not be a solution but the Alfa 164s (of which I have 2) in stock form the fan comes on a 195 which is way too hot for my anyone's liking.
We (164 owners) usually purchase a radiator temperature kit with a probe goes in the radiator fins and connects to your fans and it allows us to pre-select the temperature the fan goes on and it can be adjusted in the car.
Very handy and a cheap at $25.

You might also want to think about a bigger oil cooler, I used to run an automotion cooler on the supercharged car that was twice the size of the stock 931 unit. It's suprising how much heat is transfered into the engine via the oil.
Also routing the coolant from the front of the head through to the back of the head directly and T'ing off the line to circulate through the heater core (via the plastic valve) and return to the rear flange is probably a better way to do things... i.e heater circuit in its own closed loop.
The transfer tube only has one output, the smaller pipe is just welded on and doesn't transmit fluid.
As Dan said, you can use a 25/30mm tube dircely from the rubber reducer at the front of the head. IIRC I used 1" heater hose and 25mm aluminium tube.
