924 NA Intake Flange, next I will be drawing up a 931 S2 intake flange.

Min, very very nice work! Nice of you to share as well. Is there a source file that is available as well? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Your work is much appreciated!
I bought a carb intake instead of making the flange. But if you make a 931 it does increase the possiblities to make a customize intake _________________ Carl Fredrik Torkildsen

I have the source file, but I haven't decided what I'm doing with it yet. I may have some of these CNC machined out. If I decide I don't want to do anything with it, I'll post it up.
I'll be posting a few other pieces as I finish them, 931 intake is next, 924 NA exhaust will be after that. I've got a few turbo flanges that people may want also. I'd do a 931 exhaust, but I don't have a manifold or head to model off of.

There should be a few cracked S1 exhaust manifolds floating around this board somewhere if I had one, I'd send it to you. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Hmm, I wonder if I have a cracked S2 mani sitting around in storage. Will try to remember to check, planning to be there Saturday... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Nice drawing Min.
Are you confident the dimensions are accurate?
As you don`t have a 931 head presume that is taken from the manifold? Looks like a few mm of port mismatch to the head. |

I knew someone was going to ask that eventually. ya, I'm confident the dimensions are good. At least for the important ones (the holes). When I was drawing it up, I was printing it out on a transparent sheet of thin plastic and laying it over the flange I was modeling to ensure its accuracy.
I'll take a picture of the transparency laid over the ports so you guys can see, how closely things match up (very close). You say there is some port mismatch to the head? Have you verified that? How did you measure it?

Measuring the head places the upper & lower holes at 95mm centres. Haven`t measured the offset but either the 45 or 51 must be out.

There is indeed some port mismatch, established by measuring an actual head with digital calipers. Although the ports are tapered internally, measuring at the face of all 4 ports gives a width of 36mm and a nominal height of 37mm. All ports were under 38mm.
Perhaps others with a 931 head can give you their dimensions or even a head to model from. Clearly if one is making a replacement manifold (flange) it must ideally match the head face, not the old stock manifold. |

To be fair, the tolerances on the drawing do say +- 1 mm for those measurements. _________________ 78 924 NA

Someone should punch these into http://www.emachineshop.com site and see what the price for a few of these is.. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

So it`s way out of tolerance then, is`nt it?
The stud hole centres on the first port are off by 1mm but the accumulated dimensional error from the datum means the last hole is out by 4mm.
Although the ports may be accurate for a stock manifold they are at least 2mm larger in height than the head. Quite likely that the Y dimension for the port centres is also incorrect.
I`m not knocking Min`s work, rather merely highlighting the dimensional discrepancies and the variation between manifold and head.
Sure that Min would be pissed off if he had some machined as it stands. Or same if you, flosho or anyone copied the drawing and found it didn`t fit. Lots of filing to do.
If Min does do a run of these I would like one myself, providing it lines up with the holes and ports.
BTW, since emachineshop uses their own software it may not be compatible. |

Well, that's fine I guess, I'll just take these down until I can verify that they are indeed correct.
