Better make sure the wrenches at the dealer know these cars. This car was new when many of them were shooting spitballs in school.
Other than the DME it could also be a flaky connection in the speed/reference sensor connections. There are two plugs in a bracket between the intake manifold and the firewall. If these have an intermittent connection, it could cause similar symptoms, but I would still think DME first.
Your car is essentially a 924 with 944 guts. Another site that you might find very helpful is rennlist.com. They cover a lot of Porsche ground. Get the timing belt squared away and enjoy the ride.

Don't take it to a dealer, it wil be a learning experiance for them. Find an independant foreign car shop that has a few interesting cars in the lot. They'll be the ones to tackle it.

| Well i thank you for all the info. Its great stuff and the realazation that the delarship is not always compentent with these cars should be something evryone should read. However the Porsche dealer here is also the Mercedees Dealer (talk about a place to go and drool) and they have had some cars in there shop that just blew me away. My first look at a Ferrari F40 was in there shop. they always have a wide range of Porsche sitting around (many of them employes) when ive went to get parts for my benz. They are very compentent and most of there mechanics are old and one is even from germany. I cant understand a word he says but im told hes good. but deffintly somthing to put in the archives or somthing like that because i wouldnt think about that right off hand. |
