|
|
Question for all out there... one of my coworkers, a German, will be due to return home in a little over a year... we were starting to put together a list, over a few beers in the bar, of the most appropriate truly American souveniers for him to take home. Here's our start... naturally they will have to be procured by him from the source - factory, etc...
Cowboy boots and hat from Texas
Louisville Slugger
Fifth of Jack Daniels
poker chip from casino in Vegas or Atlantic City
Conch shell from the Conch Republic
Bottle of tequila/sombrero/poncho from Mexico?
Confederate flag
What else? We gotta figure there's at least one item from each state that's uniquely American...
California? MAC-9 from Compton? Or maybe some ass-less leather chaps from Folsom St.???
Florida? Maybe a shuffleboard stick? Mouse ears?
Michigan? Toss-up between a Detroit Tigers baseball cap or a Big-Block Chevy motor?
Jar of green river water from Chi-town during Saint Patty's Day?
Arkansas - stuffed razorback?
Alaska - polar bear rug?
Mardi Gras beads?
Smelly flannel shirt from Seattle? With a Microsoft pin?
Yeah, OK, you get the idea... may end up being a big of a scavenger hunt... but anyway, he does have some time to go finding things... best ideas will be passed on to him... food items sadly won't generally work...
Thanks! _________________ Vaughan Scott

 | Wasn't Portland a KKK headquarters or something like that?
For Oregon I would suggest a "Big mouth Billy bass"
Also, he can't leave the US without one of these baby's...

why the hell would you buy a big mac in the US?
looking at the global strategy that mcdonalds applies there's no doubt that a big mac tastes as shitty in the US as it does in germany _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

He'll need a mosquito from Wisconsin, or a hang over (they say we drink the most beer here) _________________ Rick

South Dakota, I'd say a Jackalope from the original Wall Drug.
