From my earlier post,24hrs after fitting a new battery,my engine cranks over great but i'm only seeing 8v at gauge whilst cranking??? (engine won't fire)

I see 13.5v when running,so why is my voltage being dragged down so much?,could this be a starter problem?

Could also indicate a tired solenoid or starter. I can't help as I'm on EFI and wasted spark

Hello. Did you check the voltage in the 15 pin at the coil?
It's normal a drop in voltage while cranking due the great amount of amps. that the starter needs.

First of all check the voltage in the coil (15) while cranking. You should get 5-8volts whit the ignition on, and 10-12v while cranking.

Fresh battery - showing 10v,dropping to 8 whilst cranking.I then noticed that the CD player facia was lighting up when cranking

So, i pulled the removeable facia off and the car fired up straight away.

At least i know the battery and ignition circuit are ok,but the wiring to the CD is obviously suspect (christmas project)

Thanks for the input!

Ade.
