|
|
Is the alloy sump sufficiently thick/strong enough to use a bolt in bung with gasket...dont want to have to get one welded on
Also whats a good height to have the bung at? i know lower than the turbo so it flows down freely yet higher than the highest oil level(taking into account slope of vehicle)..does that cover it? _________________ 1979 NA

I believe Bob Dodd used to have a copy of the BAE manual, you might consider contacting him as it shows where they drilled/tapped the oil pan for the drain line.
FYI the pan is plenty thick as I tapped it for an oil air separator return line.
The secondary oil plug (top plug) is about 1" below the oil level IIRC

Just has to be higher than the oil level. Personally I'd mount it as high up on the pan as you can without interfering with anything.

this section is the thicker part, see if you flange fits up here...
you might need to run over the top of the torque tube, not sure what's the best route.

Mine was a screw in one, and it always leaked so I had to patch it with heaps of metal putty. Get one welded on while you've got it apart and be done with it! You won't regret it later. I'll look at my old sump over the weekend and let you know where the drain went in. _________________ Andrew
