A slight twist on the by now "done to death" hot start issue.

I figured during the summer that my cold start valve was operating for the maximum duration during every start, regardless of engine temp,or surrounding temp. This caused flooding and complete non-start until i un-plugged the valve(then giving instant start-up).
Anyway,i've been using the car for a few months with it disconnected.Yesterday it went to 2 degrees and i had to plug it back in.

I can see how much of a pain it is to replace the thermo switch so i was thinking of using the hot start fix to rig up a switch for manual control.

HOWEVER..... if i splice into the earth (as per instructions on this forum),i will still have the normal operation in place and will still get problems when hot.So what if i cut the earth, instead of "piggy backing" it and put a switch in the earth line. Then i have total control all the time?.Will this affect anything else.

I will replace the thermo switch eventually (after cleaning my WUR,fitting a Carerra kit,new mats etc...etc....list goes on...)

TTS is easy to replace, it just takes time.

Dizzy out
Unplug TTS and temp sender
Drain coolant (Take the opportunity to flush and replace)
Disconnect 2 pipes to TTS casting
Undo the 2 bolts that hold the TTS casting & remove
Remove TTS from casting on the bench
Replace.

Doesn't take that long

Failing that just wire the CSV into a push button and ignore the TTS altogether.

i changed my TTS from under the car. I didnt take the dizzy out. In fact i didnt even jack the car up, this was before I lowered it. Its hard to get to but its not that bad of a job.

I didnt realize that it was a plug for the coolant tho, I was pretty new to the car. The only problem I had was getting out from under the car before the coolant gave me a bath, that was very exciting. I think i used a normal wrench too, nothing tricky.
