Hi,

Anybody have any success fitting speakers of this type into the doors of their 924?:

http://www.alphacaraudio.co.uk/ViewProdDetails.asp?prod_code=432&Prod_name=JBL+Power+P%2D6452+&CAT_CODE=31&SUBCAT_CODE=74

I'd like to know if they're likely to go straight in or if I'm going to have to butcher them to make them fit.

Cheers,

Sy

What year is it? I was able to fit slightly smaller speakers (3x5? I'll have to check) into my front door panels with no problems, but my car is an '88 924S.

The screw holes in the door should be for a 6x4 speaker.

I managed to get some 6x4 speakers to fit. But due to the mounting depth I had to make a spacer to pull the speaker out a bit more and use longer screws. A bit of wood painted black with a hole cut out for the speaker cone did the trick nicely

Ah yes, that's right. The speakers I installed were full sized, but they were shallow. So if you can acquire some shallow speakers or mock up something like billson described.

Thanks for the replies guys - yep my car is a 1988 UK 924S.

Yeah, they're 4x6 (or 6x4 whatever you want to call it), so I'm sure they'll fit the hole mounting points ok, but it's the rear mounting depth (i.e. behind the panel) I'm not sure about.

Cheers,

Sy
