|
|
Sorry, pics are a little big for the thread.. but they're less than 1mb together.
Just shopped some GTS lights on my porsche.
I like it as it is, but I dislike it when the lights are popped and without the heavy light system I could save some weight and fuel if the lights don't have to be popped (I always drive with my lights on).
So, the lights themselves won't be a problem... I'll fabricate something like mentioned in the how to section... I'll use adjustable lights...for the road approval tests.
this is how it looks now:
and with GTS lights on it:
and without the porsche badge (man..how am I going to hide those holes..):
It's a real tough choice for me...
also notice the Zender front lip... I'm proud of that one.. haven't seen it much.

| They make for really crappy lighting too. If you put them in, be sure you have driving lights in the bumper. You'll need them. |

haven't seen a rear valance... a while ago a front lip was on some selling site over here for 150 eur... which would be slightly less than 200$ or something like that.
2nd hand ofcourse.
How crappy is the lighting? The lights will be hellas with H4 bulbs in them...
Is the lighting nasty because of the 'low' position in the buckets?
I've used the second pic as my desktop pic, to get used to it.
I'm totally agreeing with you scorpio, the gts lights distort the unity of the front.
If the lights aren't adequate, I'll have my doubts... I can get used to a new look, but if I'm downgrading the lights themselves I won't be happy. _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

Rather than buying the covers I tried to mold them and had some success.
Some success????? The wife would not let me use the oven to melt the plastic. My hair dryer did a so so job and really does not get hot enough.
I should look for a toaster oven the next time. Maybe a new wife......hmmmmm. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

I will
But I'm not sure if the weight saving and aerodynamics improvement is significantly worth the effort compared to how it is... as I said...I always have my lights on which means the car looks crappy everytime I ride it... until I park it
edit: I can use my mom's oven I've dried paint in it and stuff so this'll be ok .
My girl liked the headlights..... a lot. _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." (C. Bell)

You have driving lights in the bumper. Why would you drive with the headlights up during the day? Seems unnecessary. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I think you should go for the GTS lights and keep the Porsche badge!
Looks sweet! Never seen GTS ligths on a narrow-bodied car before!
I am also planning a GTS lights conversion on my CGT, but as other people have said, you should be aware of the poor lighting they give...!
The reason for this is the long ditance from the bottom of the lamp to the front of the car. The main beam should be OK, but the dipped.....
VERY poor!
But...
Who cares! GO AHEAD! _________________ Porsche 931/37 |

Just received a email from hella that the lights I chose aren't available anymore
I was in doubt if I should build the lights myself or buy a kit for 240eu... but I'm not sure if the lights are adjustable on the plug&play kits.
Still not sure what to do... conversion won't be made for a while.
ideola, in this country you're not allowed to only drive with the 'bumper lights' on. You only can use them when parked, or combined with the actual headlights. So I'm risking a fine when I drive with those so called 'city lights'... don't know why they're called city lights over here, you can't use them in the city or something _________________ "Rule: Turbo's make torque, and torque makes fun." Lights are adjustable on the set I have. They are mounted in a spring loaded cage and you can control the aim with a couple of screws. Easy-peasy... _________________ Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot about Porsche!
