Bump

The Toyota Celica All Trac st165 intercooler they post on eBay is now selling at $220. It's a nice unit. Problem is they don't give any details as to whether it has any leaks or not, or whether the pump works, and the liquid cooler radiator looks chewed up by stones.

This unit from Lindsey, the Thermal Hard Pipe, is kind of interesting.

No flow specs really but they're using it on 944 Turbos so they've got the flow. No specs on cooling measures or efficiency. Anyone know if these work?

The heat exchanger core should be $80:

The air-water for $200 includes the orginal pump and radiator. According to Toyota peple both are botlenecks. Use a hignflowing pump and a large radiator or reservoir. Shrouds and air flow to the radiator is very inportant as well.

A similar Subaru item was sold for $15:

I would like an air-air intercooler in the nose piece or just behind it. Not crazy about the lag potential or cutting up the car. But the air-air systems are so reliable and maintenance free I guess I should keep my mind open.

Any thoughts? I'm looking too for websites with good water-air systems or good air-air systems that guys here have actually tried or are very confident in recommending. New ideas are good too.

I recently completed a front mount intercooler on my 931. It works extremely well dropping temps from 135 degs C (it is supercharged) down to 40 to 50 degs C
This one modification transformed my 931 into a very much more pleasant car to drive. I have some jpegs but don't know how to post them.

So close. One more step: Let's say your pic is http://photobucket.com/boogers.jpg. If you want your pics to actually show up in the thread, you post them like this:

Or, you can use Photobucket tools to post clickable thumbnails by placing checkmarks next to the pic in your album, and then going to the bottom and hitting "Generate HTML and IMG Code."

ANYWAY,

Very interesting setup there!

Thanks Rasta - ok here's an interesting one for $150.

It just might fit. Is the alignment of these end tanks right? If so it could be placed away from the heat maybe.

Here's the link to their site. And they're in the USA! 11 x 9 x 3.5

Where are you putting it? Mine is going in the battery tray, so inlet and outlet point in the same direction. . .they can easily make it either way.

Yeah I am using the battery tray for my methanol water injection pump and tank, so I can't use the battery tray for the intercooler.

I am thinking it should run between the turbo outlet and the throttle with a hard 90 degree right turn at the throttle. Here's a sketch from my head - no measurements taken yet so I could be waaay off here.

I'm just imagining this in my head and haven't done a mock up yet. I might not have room around the valve cover.

I should make a mock up of the PWR tube and this intercooler and see how the fit goes.

You may end up re-engineering that. . .the core will be too thick to be above the valve cover, and if it is over the exhaust you will face massive heat soak issues.

Perhaps your washer fluid tank?

Yeah no doubt it's going to be too thick to go above the valve cover and I sure don't want it over the exhaust. So this means it can only go to the right - above the CIS gas lines and above the spark plugs.
