Hi,I have some KYB strut inserts coming for my 81 931 and I am curious about what they refer to when they list "Except Sport Susp" My car has neither Koni nor Bilstien but rather a standard strut. The internals I removed had no marking.
Is the sport reference for an upgraded strut option from factory?Or is the 5 bolt\4 wheel disc setup called "sport susp" ?
I searched many pages but could not find this question/answer.
KYB was not my first choice but the car is undergoing some accident repair and complete repaint so Konis or bilstiens will have to wait.
I do have KYB on my 72 911 and so far I like them, however I have not had the car on the track. YET!
Thanks

There may have been an optional Koni setup from the factory, although I doubt the strut assembly itself was different. Might be a catalog error. _________________ Toofah King Bad

KYB has several product lines.
Most probably what he ordered is the least expensive, whih is too soft for use with heavy duty springs, and not adjustable. |

Just make sure the top of the strut's shaft does not dent your NACA duct the first time you close the hood.... _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

I am unsure about the shock selection for the sport suspension. I want to say it had konis up front and boge gas charged in the rear. I do know that the sport suspension had up rated torsion bars and springs (which were marked with colored dots on the coils). The sport suspension also had larger diameter sway bars. I want to say it had konis up front and boge gas charged in the rear.

Thanks for the replies and thanks Paul for the warning! My hood closes but it is close to the strut. If I put my hand in the NACA duct and push slightly it will touch, so I will change the strut mounts before damage is done. _________________ 81 931 Minerva Blue
