Coupla things going on... we had our Waterford Hills (local track) annual awards banquet last night... fun night out, chocolate fountain, music, dancing, etc... picked up a couple of trophies... one for coming in 5th overall in the season's driver rankings (a very nice plaque with a pic of the car)... also was awarded, for the second year running now, the Gary Taylor Memorial Award - a sportsmanship trophy for our class (ITB)!
That was very cool, as it's voted on strictly by all ITB drivers... so a peer choice, and particularly special to be considered worthy for two years going now!
But the season's not over yet!
The better part of yesterday was all spent wrenching on the racecar, and today will be more of the same. Yesterday the car got new piston rings and the head scrubbed clean (lots of carbon - pistons too) and the valves freshly lapped-in again. The head's already back on, as is the intake, so today is all reassembly. Have to put the radiator back in; pulled it out to investigate a small leak, which turned out to be a pinhole up by the overflow tank nipple, so we epoxied that up.
Tuesday, we load up and leave first thing Wednesday morning for the long (12-hr) tow to Road Atlanta for the American Road Race of Champions (ARRC)! http://www.arrc-online.com/
This is one of the premiere amateur road races in the country, equivalent to the Runoffs or NASA Nationals; we'll be gridding up with the best ITB racers in the country for trophies and bragging rights! Yes, I said we; Doug Spencer will be coming down as well with his ITB BMW 230i! We'll be pretending to be teammates this weekend, at least till the green flag drops! Then we hope to put on our usual exciting door-to-door, bumper-to-bumper show!
Qualifying and race results will be posted to the above website same-day, and the whole event will be receiving coverage from title sponsor Grassroots Motorsports magazine. Hopefully you can look forward to seeing us in the pages in a future issue! _________________ Vaughan Scott

Yes, or I'll try to, if I don't have any more glitches! _________________ Vaughan Scott

Results are finally online - weren't done real-time as expected based on prior years:

Doug's so pissed at his car's inability to compete on the straights, he has already stated that he's done with that car! We'll see, but I don't blame him, I'd feel the same way. We were just blowing his doors off on the straights. _________________ Vaughan Scott
