| Can anyone tell me the whats and why of 924n/a with 5 lug hubs? I've seen 3 of them for sale in the last week and am trying to figure what else these cars are built with. These are non-turbo 2.0 litre pre 1982 Porsche 924. I've heard it rumored that euro model 924 may have all kinds of goodies not available in the US. Any help would be great. These cars are going cheap. |

It's usually called the m471 option.
using 911sc 5 lug rotors I believe and 928 caliperand pads, bigger sway bars, torsion bars.
It also came with 924 turbo rear spioler, mud guards (not flaps) rocker panel trim piece and an Audi based 5speed.

Five-Lug four wheel disc brakes were optional from model 79 and later. They were available in a package, but could also be had separately.
The front rotors were shared by the 928, and 911. The front hubs and wheel bearing are from the 911.
The steering knuckles are specific to the four wheel disc brake setup, and are the same ones used on the early 944. The calipers for the front and rear are similar to some 928 units, and some 944 units.
Early four wheel disc brake parts are the same as those used on the 81 931, or the 80 931 with optional four wheel disc brakes.
The major advantages to the four wheel disc brake setup are: #1 no more need to adjust the rear brake shoes on the car every month, #2 much larger selection and compatibility with other Porsche five-bolt wheels, and #3 much improved braking power over extended number of stops. |

It usually was the good one as every one that I know of with that option has had no known history of those symptoms with their Audi 5spd
