An oil temperature gauge was fitted to the very early cars. Check your local Porsche agent.
Have you tried a search? There have been a few discussions about oil temperature senders in the past. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

| Theres a bolt in the sump, just above the sump plug. Can't remember the thread of hand, but thats where most people put an oil temp sender. |

To get a correct reading, you need to match the sender with the gauge... so you should get the sender from a GTI. _________________ Vaughan Scott

You should find that thread size is m14x1.5 (unless it's been re-drilled and re-tapped (which would be unusual )) - http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=19406 _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

The meter is VDO, 0-150 C celsius.
Can I also use an water temp. sender ? _________________ 937 trackday car

924RACR is correct about the sensor. Being VDO you are in luck as I understand they all use the same sensor thermistors with identical temperature coefficients.
Check that your sump actually has a hole since my early one doesn`t, just a cast boss.
Then try:
