I want to use a hotter coil for my 924 ignition. I want to use VW / audi / Porsche / Bosch Parts to upgrade the car.
Will the bosch red coil work.
If not what about aftermarket coils with the stock CDI unit.
Any info helpful

| Any high voltage (electronic ignition) coil will work - even a Ford |

I have a msd red blaster 2 coil says on it for electronic ignition. It ohmed out goood. came of a Mitsubishi 2.6l in a 89 ram 50 dodge ram 50. My friend installed it and later changed it and gave it to me.
Also got an svo coil from an 85 mustang and svo duraspark ignition module fro m same car and have the wiring harness. He totaled this car last year.
I also got the power steering pump from the ram 50 and mounted it in the smog pump position. with a few thick washers it fit !!. has a remote mounted resevoir.
also got the metal hose ends to fit the pump. will have these custom bent and matched to new hoses matched to the stock 944 rack and pinion metal ends. the metal ends of the hoses will be fitted with aeroquip fitings and the hoses fitted for same so I can replace the lines easily.
I also will install an oil cooler and a remote filter mount and use a spin on hydraulic filter from a log splitter to keep the system clean.
what year 944/968 rack is best. will synthetic power steering fluid be best or just use tranny fluid. synthetic of course.
I heard that the 924 na up to 1980 used a magnetic pickup unit. if so I am a gonna make some adapters to temporary fit in the ford ignition. Especially when the coil and module both new together are less tham $40 usd at any wholesale parts house.
Wish me luck.
I plan to make a hot rod out of the 80 since it is in sad condition on the inside, very sad. Wiring has been hacked all up. and it also has a leaking seperated rear hatch that will be replaced by a perspex unit.
I am thinking to install a carbon fibre hood with a 79 mustang pace car cowl induction hood scoop and carbon fibre euro bumper and fenders. will also use a carbon fibre rear bumper.
I am finishing my wiring mods. If anyone wants to see them I will email them to you as TIF g4 compression atttachment files.
I also got a nippondenso compressor that looked a little different from my oem unit as the connectors were further back for the hoses. I pushed the hoses back a little and screwed them on. A perfect fit.
My friend had just replaced it with a new unit for r134a. I think it is a 9 stage unit. he rplaced it @ 3k ago before he totaled it. Also fitted the dryer assembly from the truck. It was new also. charged the system up with 134a and it blew snow. really cold for a 924.
My next car I plan to use an r22 conversion kit from a custom ac shop in MAcon , GA does cars, trucks buses and semi's all day long and can make up any custom hose or hard line with fittings for pressure switches.
these being the lo cutout , hi cutout and fan cut on as in a gm car using gm switches.
he was rear ended.
got the parts from his truck and mustang for $20 usd.
I am constantly changing this cars systems around and experimenting with the car. Best physical therapy there is for my medical condition.
I also have a dual fan unit from an escort turbo that he also totaled. He rolled it.
that car has a lightweight dual shroud unit and looks like a bolt up proposition with a couple of holes to drill in the front side of the radiator support to mount it.
It mounts in front of the radiator and not the back. gives more room to work under the hood.
I also have the e shaped ignition coil and the harness from it from the escort also. It is also an SVO unit. Also got the turbo
from the car and his after market intercooler and water /alcohol injection unit.
My friend is a crack head and sells everything cheap. He makes good money as a diesel mechanic and blows it on cars and crack. I pray for his safety and a day for him to be drug free. known him for 17 years.
I always offer him more but he won't take it. Says he only gives me the good prices.
Any advice on my friend to help him end this viscious and wasteful addiction please let me know.
gotta go,
