Hi,

Long time ago, I was very busy with school etc.
I got a chassis from a friend, it is totally empty, no wheels, no engine.

My plan was to build a Porsche 924 GTR from it.

If you have suggestions for me please let me know.

My idea is to put a Porsche 944 turbo engine in it, and raise the power from 220 hp to 400.
The weight should be under 1000 kg.

As you will see this is quite a project.
I aspect it will take 2 years to build it up.

Please let me know what you think.

Regards, Leander

you should not expect 2 years. You should expect 20-30K down the pit into a car.

If you have a 924 body...it will take some skills and money to properly fit the 951 engine in(requires cuting and welding or using home build as body structure parts)...mainly you should buy a nice working 951 and take it apart with the purrpose of fitting some of it into the 924. Sounds kinda stupid dosent it ?

I'm reminded of the comedian who said he was tired of going through divorces, so now he just finds a woman he likes and gives her a house. Pursuing the course you described will cost you as much as a house, and when you're down the finished project will only have a market value of a fraction of your cost. Hate to kill your buzz, but it's better to lose it now that when you're buried in this project.

Take the money that you would put into this project and buy the best car you can find. When you start with a good, running complete car and do sensible mods, you ought to at least recoup your purchase price when you're ready to move on.

Put a GT bodykit on a 951. Much easier and you'll have essentially what you're trying to build. I don't understand swapping a 951 engine into a 924 body and then adding flares to turn the 924 body into a 944? Am I missing something?

Ya that would be cool to have... however really expensive....but fun to build....

I have a friend that actually has number 2 of the 19 GTR's made (the one in my picture) and its been sitting on a body stand and all the parts for the motor sitting in a boxes for quite some time now and I have been wanting to see that car built for a long time...

But if you understand that I will cost a lot of time and money. Go for it... because if your are set on doing that then no matter what someone tells you you will end up doing it... another option is just buy a decent Running 924s and just buy all the body parts and make it look like it... would probably work out cheaper.
