Latest 911 & Porsche World magazine has a nice, good sized, article on the 924 reaching 30yrs old. In the very first column they've put the 924 up there as equally as important to Porsche as the 911.

Same issue has an article on the correct way to drive the front engined models, main focus being a 968CS in that. Also a buyers guide to the 944. All three articles are quite a few pages long for a change so it's worth picking up a copy.

Will get a copy. Got the one with 924 Carrera GT article in it (two months ago?).

Went to buy a copy and accidently picked up last months issue. No matter, it's good magazine and it has some cool articles.

One interesting article was the "Your cars" section, where a Yank from Denver, Colorado, is reporting on his search for a water-cooler:

"My budget was a thrifty (US)$7000, but my search area was the whole of the United States. I thought the odds were in my favour. The 924/944/928 cars come to mind in this price range... So I put my mind to finding a 924 Turbo or late model 944.
The 924 Turbo was totally elusive. The two examples I came across were so tattered and abused that they were unfit for daily duty. Worth restoration, for sure, but not by me. That NACA ducted hood is just so cool, I think I will have to find a way to own one of these little rockets some day.
"

He settled on an '86 944 Turbo with a rebuilt engine for US$5,000...

Lol, that's simple-- you accelerate going into a corner after upshifting. When the front wheel lifts off the ground, the steering becomes way more responsive. So fun.

Just picked up a copy, I'll read it tonight. Good to see the 924 being taken seriously.

Finally found a copy!

Story on the toofah is a little shorter than I expected. There's nothing really amazing or new in the article (although it's fine as general background description on the history of the car).

But they did offer one little tidbit I never knew: In 1981 Porsche ran a 924 at Le Mans that had the 944's engine... but turbocharged with a 16-valve head! (maybe that should go in the Performance Upgrades forum?) Walter Röhrl and Jürgen Barth managed to get seventh outright!

yep, thats called a 924 Carrera GTP ( 944LM) and shared that particular race with Peter Brock in a 924 GTR. Constantly confused on rennlist and pelicanparts with the 944 GTP which is a heavily modified 944S2.

The 924 GTP spent the least time of all competitors in the pits and it was also DOHC!

Got mine from the local chain bookstore. Mind you, I'm within 15mins of the city centre, so it's a pretty big bookstore! They seem to carry most everything.
