Just to let you all know the turbo hung together for another race weekend. Having learned which bolts and stuff like to come off we have used Locktite and extra care where needed and nothing shook off this weekend.
VIR North course does not favor a turbo (except for the single long front straight); but we were able to hang pretty much with the 44s while my new driver learned the car.
It was, of course, VERY hot. 100+ on the track. We had no cooling problems. I'm running only the single main fan with the ability to manually run the second if neeed. We never needed to run the second fan; although I do use it as a matter of procedure following pit-in and shutdown.
The oil pressure is good. Using Redline Racing 40wt. Only problem is that with about 4 hours on the oil now, it's still very hard to see the oil on the dipstick. The engine is absolutely tight still, very slight seepage somewhere - maybe at the turbo supply line banjo fitting. But it does not show up as any consumption and I am loath to tighten the banjo more if not required.
Running with 100 Octane as a precaution. This is the early ignition without the temperature adjustment to the timing. _________________ John

Glad to hear someone had a good weekend. Mine was absolute $hit, over early.
Qualifying was OK, but not fast enough - too much traffic, and was scrubbing in new tires.
Crapped out from 2nd place in the race with 2 laps to go, horrible misfire, finished one lap down in 7th.
Too pissed off when I parked it, I tossed the steering wheel on the dash too hard and smashed the windshield (original '79 vintage). Then practically broke my hand hitting the windshield a second time. Then nearly broke my toe kicking a cooler after I got out of the car.
Can't race with a broken windshield, so that was it, weekend over, and shopping for a new windshield now.
Championship bid is pretty much over now, led by 8 points going into the weekend, now I'm 15 points behind with only 2 weekends/4 races left. And the car's still off its pace; I think it's still got lingering damage from the wall hit in June, and will be replacing the LR trailing arm now to try and get the suspension/alignment back in spec, see if we can get the speed back. _________________ Vaughan Scott
