In my personal opinion, i like the looks of the wide body kits on our cars, but do they hurt in performance or help?

The body kits are fiberglass or carbon fiber which makes them lighter than the stock fenders so you will be dropping a 100-200 lbs, but: they also add drag to the car. Does the removal of weight make up for the increase in drag? I would assume the car would be faster at low speeds with the body kit b/c of a better power/weight ratio and drag isn't affecting the car that much.

does anybody have any way of figuring this out mathmatically, or even just personal testing on their own with a before/after deal?

If you like the body kit buy it. If you drive your car solely on the road the drag factor wont effect you much except on the highway. Also why not simply buy a 944, it's a 924S with a factory installed body kit . You are right though, the reduced weight will increase power to weight ratio (acceleration and top speed and fuel economy). Also remember that the kits do not only add drag but down force and air resistance, thus requiring more power to move at higher speeds.

I guess that does it!

I'm just going to have to get another 924/944 so I can put one of those wide body kits on my car. They look awesome!! WOW!

Think I can get away with putting one of them on my Martini, and still have it be a Martini?

FYI...
I've decided to go with the one suggestion of putting in the red/orange carpets back in, and just putting a black cover over them...that way I can still call it a Martini, This will make sense for those that read some of the earlier posts.

Thanks

The All Porsche IFB kit is a cheap knock off of the Strosek kit. It is of poor build quality compared to the original. It weighs more, requires extra finishing, and is more prone to cracking...

Note the gaps in the oanels, and how they vary in width. Not good.

http://www.strosek.de the original, and still the best. The only downside is transatlantic shipping, for one piece fenders/rockers/quarter panels. Oh yeah, and the price.

http://www.acespeed.com.sg had a very reasonable widebody kit. Same kit, but it came with a hatch, for about the same price the others wanted for the hatch alone.

Oops, wrong kit. Sorry to the folks at Infinite for my vicious libel...

The hood is really cheap looking though, and doesn't match the headlight conversion very well. I like the black one, in fact, I like it so much, it's my sig on automotiveforums.com. Ah, 924 widebody.

I noticed at one site there is a body kit that will turn a 924 into a 968...but the transformation will be obvious at the track...
