OHHHHH. Must have the US vacuum setup.
All that emission control stuff must drag HP from the motor.
I prefer KISS method. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Certainly complicates sorting out a vacuum leak.. _________________ '82 924 NA Euro (hers)

Here is the vacuum diagram for my '82 NA
Nowhere near as complicated as some of the ones I've seen and yes, the 2nd hose for the carbon canister just hangs down inside the fender rather than actually connecting to anything. There doesn't appear to be a hole in the fender for it to come back through either. Also, on the stock Aus delivered cars the distributor vacuum advance is actually plugged off (ie no vacuum line to the distributor). If you check the PET you will see a plug listed on the distributor vacuum valve for Aus only.

The Vacuum Limiter in the diagram is also known as the deleleration valve, but I suspect you know that.
Do you have a pic or diagram (modify the one I posted maybe) of your simplified system? Just can't picture where on the block the "crankcase breather" lives. _________________ TJ

If the pic above doesn't show up try this link

I think the decel valve is there for manuals but not carbon can. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Thanks Ozzie. Where is the crankcase breather? Got a pic? _________________ TJ

It is right behind where the LH engine mount attaches to the motor. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Gee, sounds like its nice & easy to find & work with...NOT.
I assume thats LH from the drivers perspective rather than from the front of the car (ie its on the same side as the battery on our cars)? _________________ TJ

Actually it is a pain to do the clamp up where the 3/4" hose fits on.
part 047 103 221 on PET.
But it is pretty open under the throttle body once you can get your hands in. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Very likely the hose I am talking about goes to the air filter on your car. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

Yep, I was only expecting to fix the slow fuel drip as I wasn't having any hot start issues (just cold start) even with the accumulator leaking. My hot start problem only happened after last weekend when I tried to seal up the hole, replaced a couple of fuel lines & got a new battery. _________________ TJ

Not yet Khal, but it's on the list. I'm actually not sure the in-tank pump has ever worked since I got the car. About 6 months ago I found one of it's electrical wires was just hanging loose so I plugged it back in & zip tied it so it wouldn't come out again. Didn't make any difference to anything at the time, but I wasn't having any starting issues (hot or cold) at the time either. Also, I don't have any hesitation under hard acceleration, which I thought would be a sign of a failing fuel pump. Need to do the flow test to check huh!
Anyone have a test procedure for the in-tank pump? The external pump is pretty load (always has been), so listening to see if the in-tank pump is running would be a little hard unless I first electrically disconnect the external pump. _________________ TJ

Fuel filter blockage, popping on decceleration is either vaccum or fuel mixture.
Leaning out of the mixture certainly causes popping. Also having a 2.5 inch exhaust does this
I would get a fuel presure gauge and check the system pressure.
This could be your injector bungs are sucking in air but I wolud look at loss in fuel pressure being the culprit. Could be your warm start solenoid is kaput.
Your fuel pump will also sound very loud if the filter is blocked, so if you haven't replaced this in 20,000km then I would suggest this as you may have sucked in some dirty fuel.
You can do a quantitive test as a basic start, but a pressure gauge would be the best solution as you can put in before and after parts to maintain consistent fuel readings.
