How reliable is the clutch cable on the 77.5
924? We are toying with a trip to Alaska and wuz just wundering - - pack a spare? thanx

Mine snapped on me right where it meets the pedal, nylon was old I guess and it gave out,
My new one makes a nylon to metal sound when fully depressed that worries me Im half waiting for it to go snapp..If you can easily get one Id take it along I guess
it all depends on how the existing one is.

Take a spare, they do break! Easy to fix if you have one, though. There's a weak point where the cable makes a really tight bend, right by the brake master cylinder, where it can snap. Also consider greasing the existing one before departure.

The reason the nylon snaps is that the cable gets frayed. Lubrication helps. If the clutch is hard to press down and you also hear a rubbing sound, it is time to replace the cable and the nylon ends. The cable is relitively inexpensive. I learned this the hard way of course.
