Could I use a speedomeeter from a 944 in my 924? have found one quite cheap on a junkyard..

I vote yes. The Performance Products catalog shows the same part numbers for speedo cable and retaining clips for all 924's and 944's 1977-1985 1/2.

Yes. My '82 931 had one when I got it and it worked fine (for about two weeks). Then, of course, the odometer stopped working. I replaced it with a 160 mph unit from a '77. The 944 speedo is nice with the dual units in different colors and 6 figure odometer.
