Beware where you put the filter, you don't want to suck hot air, place it where you get as much cold air as possible _________________ Sveina

| I have the K&N in my turbo. Frankly I don't belive that it is any better than the stock filter, But for $50 I can keep it forever, the paper ones are $25-30 so it is really a no brainer. |

I just took the part number to my local autoparts store, and had them order it. It was $35 US. But, that was about five years ago. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo |

i've heard a couple of things with the air filters.. I remember someone saying that the cone types aren't much different to the standard airbox filters that you can get (about the same surface area?) but the cone types are smaller, so might be easier to manage in a smaller engine bay.
i've also heard that you can fit a cone type in the standard airbox, which would allow you to have one but appear stock if you got pulled over by the police.
one thing that did interest me was I saw a cone filter that had a conical sheild around the cone part, so the air was still being drawn from a pipe. that would give you the smaller filter size, and allow you to put the intake piping to where the air is coolest.
i'm going to re-route my air intake to get cold air from some of the ducts at the front, but hadn't though much more of it. in the absence of an intercooler, fresh air is probably the next best thing in summer traffic jams. _________________ it's funny, but when they said "Anything is Possible", that's exactly what they meant.... |

| I ordered the K&N filter for my 931 through my local Auto Zone. Took a couple days to get it in, and I want to say it was around $55 or $60. |

I got one of the shielded cone types and made an intake that draws from around the side of the radiator.

I modified a second airbox for my 931. The front of the bottom of the airbox was cut about the size of a pack of cigarettes laying flat and I welded an extension that fits to the front into the front of the car so that it willl take air directly into the airbox. Sealed up the side intake. I also plan to insulate the bottom of the air box when I replace it.
Yes, I run a KN filter. In the long run it is cheaper and has a lifetime warranty. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

Sounds like a good solution, but have you had any issues while driving in heavy rain? |

I plan on a baffle. I can also block one of the four inlets probably the far right facing the car. Right now still planning. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"
