I remember reading a post once that the tolerance class of that bearing is extremely important and you need the tightest-tolerance version but I just can't find it...

Not the tightest, the loosest, ...

The engine is together with the new head gasket. I got a scare on the first test drive when water was pissing out of what seemed to be the head. But of was just a hose and it trickled along the engine ...

Small update.
I removed the axle from the tube, at first glance it doesn't appear to be bent. I'm waiting for a pair of v-blocks to be able to check it.
But it seams ridiculous that a 25 mm / 1 inch ...

Haven't measured it yet, 1-2 mm maybe ...

I'm restoring a 931 car that is mostly in pieces right now. I checked the torque tube after re-rusting and painting it.
I noticed that its slightly bent on the engine side, the bearing doesn't sound ...

It was "rebuilt" so new bearings, new rings (properly gaped for boost) and new head gasket. But stock stuff. I didn't touch the deck it wasn't something I could do in my shed.

The head ...

The last torque steps feels slightly scary, im glad these engines arent known for cracking the block and pulling the studs out, like the Cosworth ford that they are made for

Darned impressive you got this far; I think you mentioned you hadn't opened the engine up at all (original head gasket), correct me if I'm wrong. Given that you got this far, I'd think between truing ...

Amazingly stout little engine!

Found the limit for stock parts, lets see what some easy upgrades will do!
