I made some similar adaptors, aluminium. You can make an o ring groove on the bottom end or just some thread sealer.

I bought some brown cans, they were on sale, probably not a great demand for brown spray paint...
The darkest was RAL 8014 Sepia, but that was way to light.

I'm not sure this is "good idea" territory, but I'd be tempted to keep pushing the stock bottom end until something breaks... Obviously, it's not something you'd want to do unless you cons ...

I think that is the compressor map of the slightly larger 257, I have the 252.

it's been fine with 15psi.

Mine is handling 29 psi at the moment

A leakdown test is whats required to figure out what is leaking compression. Reasonably cheap tool and very useful.

Don't bother with the cometics, use a stock head gasket. MLS gaskets have far higher demands on the surfaces being perfect, it likes a mirror finish surface.
