225s fit fine on a 7 inch rim, but 6 would be a stretch (pun intended).

IMHO, go with a late 944. Much improved dash, that still holds up today.
Not to mention the engines and trannies are bullet-proof in my opinion. Just replace the timing belt early and often and y ... |

That's not too bad actually. Here is my '88 924S with 400lb front springs and 30mm torsion bars (stock front anti-roll bar and Welt 22mm rear). Your car isn't leaning much farther.
