i been looking around at aftermarket wastegates for the 930? Huntely racing ( http://www.huntleyracing.com ) sells the Tial line which is supposed to fit the 930. the picture 46mm they have looks like it. my question is i did a search for Tial wategates and came up with other venders but they also sell another size that looks like it might work a 40mm. what is this measurement of and what difference does it make?

The size just refers to the inlet&outlet diameters for the exhaust pipes. I'm not sure how worthwhile an upgrade would be. Ours don't fail unless the rubber boot is torn. I'm sure the Tial actuation is quicker and the larger diameter will dump the exhaust quicker allowing a more positive control over the boost pressure, but I'm not sure this is something that limits us very much. 951 folks often go aftermarket because they have problems with their stock units. Ours are pretty rock solid. I don't know what the story would be from the 930 guys, maybe the rediculous amounts of HP they pull out would require the larger diameters to dump all the exhaust pressure quickly enough.

Or is it they are looking for a waste gate that stays shut until the dump pressure is obtained, instead of starting to open early?

Hmm... In any case, the wastegate on my gal's 931 is shot. Should I rebuild or go aftermarket? What I've heard is that the cost of rebuild will get the Tial unit. True?

I appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Sprint.
