Is your engine compartment painted black and not your body color?
I have looked at a couple cars and my first thought is that it has crash damage, but this is the second one like that, guards red ext. and flat black engine compartment.
Can anyone share any insite?
Thanks _________________ 87-924s |

My '81 931 has a body color engine compartment. It's Venus red, like most of the rest of the car. _________________ Jon Furst |

Porsche painted the entire body as a single piece, so its all one color when it leaves the factory. |

My engine compartment's grey... my car was repainted. That's the 81. The 82 is the same colour all over, though it has also been repainted, they did keep the colour. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Any ideas why they would paint the engine compartment a different color than the body during a re-paint? Other than the obvious, crash damage?
Do some people like a flat black engine compartment? To me it just makes it a darker space than it already is, and makes it tougher to see leaks.

I have this deliema... I'm painting my car and I can't decide to paint the engine compartment body color or just to paint it black... Sigh... Decisions, decisions!

If you are going to go a different color - go white instead of black. Makes it much easier to see things like leaks. |

It would also look horrible as soon as you drive it. Painting you engine bay white is like juggling chainsaws, as soon as you do it you are in trouble. |
